Esrog Challah
There's nothing like spending some quality time in the kitchen with your children, especially before a Yom Tov. Making and creating delicious and beautiful treats with the family, will make the YomTov even more memorable.
In 2019 we featured the Challah Apples in Family Table for Rosh Hashanah. The idea went viral and these adorable Challah Apples became a Rosh Hashanah staple in many Jewish homes.
As a result, in 2020 we featured these Esrog Challahs in honor of Sukkos. They also became extremely popular. You can also make a thin braided challah to resemble a lulav.
Enoy your YomTov preparations!!
You will need:
- Challah dough
- Egg wash
- Yellow food coloring
- Cloves
- Small oval pan
Directions:
- Add foodcoloring to the egg waah(approximately ten drops of food coloring per egg).
- Place oval shape piece of challah dough in pans.
- Stick a clove in and bake.
To keep the yellow color I started baking the challah without the egg and then brushed the challah with the egg wash halfway through the baking time. I baked them on the bottom rack to prevent them from getting too brown .
