Tic-Tac-Toe Salad Plate

I recently wrote a ten page spread for Mishpacha Magazine Family First showcasing ideas for preparing your own simcha. Included were exciting recipes, garnishing and plating ideas from entree through dessert. The feedback (no pun intended!) was fabulous. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing some of the ideas with you. When preparing for a simcha, I especially like to focus on the first course since a beautiful appetizer is like the cover of a good book!

Starting a meal with a salad is always enjoyed by all. When presented in an appealing way, you’re off to a really good start. You can adapt this idea using any salad of your choice to fill in the “X’s” and “O’s” to create this tic tac toe “board”.  Tip: In order to plate this salad, you will need to be very organized and have everything ready in advance: as this needs to be prepared right before your guests arrive, and requires some patience.

Supplies:

Directions:

Arrange breadsticks in a tic tac toe pattern and fill each section. (For the 2 shorter lines, I broke off a piece of the breadsticks)

  • Love it! WIsh I could see the other ideas. I’m thinking of adapting this for a themed sheva brochos I’m planning- maybe we’ll make it in a simple house shape. Our theme uses the couple’s initials to spell AMEN as in Bayis Ne’eman- theme is “Constructing a home” and all menu items and decor fit into theme so far! Appetizer is a tur-KEY salad, so this setup may work well.
